Daisuke Matsuzaka is Going to Bring the Mother Fucking Rukus in 2012

Mark my words: 2012 is the year of Daisuke Matsuzaka. Japan’s native son has recovered in miraculous time from Tommy John surgery and will likely be back as early as June 1. He’s come into camp 20 lbs lighter and according to Boston’s staff has been a work horse.  Below I’ve listed the top reasons why I believe 2012 will be the best season Dice K has ever had in a Red Sox uniform

1. Bobby Valentine: The one positive Bobby V brings to the Red Sox is that he is loved by the Japanese and is very familiar with their style of play. Valentine was the manager of the Chiba Lotte Marines and lead them to the Japan Series and Asia Series championships in 2005. He was so loved in Japan that 112,000 people signed a petition to try and keep him with the organization after he was released in 2009. Also there is a beer named after him. Right off the bat Valentine said he is going to take the handcuffs off Dicke K, which means he is going to allow him to throw as often and as many types of pitches as he wants. I believe management should’ve done this from the start. If it aint broke then why fix it. Also Bobby V speaks Japanese, so less things will get lost in translation.

2. Yu Darvish: The Texas Ranger’s signing of Yu Darvish will take a lot of pressure off Dice K. For the first time he won’t be the most scrutinized Japanese player. He will get a lot less media attention, which will allow him to take more pressure off himself and focus more on his pitching.

3. Contract Season: Dice K is a free agent after the season, so if he wants to see the money he is going to have to put up the numbers. Here is a look at recent Red Sox stars stats during contract years.

  • Jonathan Papelbon (2011): 2.94 ERA, 31-of-34 save opportunities, 87 strikeouts in 64.1 IP
  • David Ortiz (2011): .309 BA, 29 HR, 96 RBI
  • Adrian Beltre (2010): .321 BA, 28 HR, 102 RBI

Lets hope Dice K follows in their footsteps.

4. No one Expects Anything: There should be zero pressure on Dice K this season. He has almost no fans left in Boston and for the first time since signing in Boston he doesn’t have to anchor the staff. The Sox have three pitchers ahead of him in the rotation, so he can relax and go up against teams weaker number 4 starters. I honestly think half  of the fan base thinks he’s off the team.

5. His Hair: Pure fucking fuego! Plain and simple you just don’t lose games with a flow like that.
